Seoul

Seoul is the most-covered region on this site — the restaurants and sights below are all places we have actually been, sorted by neighbourhood. Each area eats differently: Yeouido is office lunches (gomtang, cold soybean noodles, pho) and a Han-River-view cafe by the National Assembly; Myeongdong is veteran kalguksu and grilled pork bones, plus bibimbap up Namsan; Namdaemun is market naengmyeon and braised hairtail; Euljiro & Jongno is veteran sundae-guk and LA-galbi houses with hanok dessert in Ikseondong; Mapo is grill houses and offal near Mapo Station and a cafe in a converted house; Hongdae is ramen and cafes open past midnight; Yeongdeungpo is the Mullae alleys and old spots by Yeongdeungpo Station; Gangnam & Seocho is drip coffee, burgers and budae-jjigae along Teheran-ro by Yeoksam Station; Itaewon & Hannam is a Korean-beef course; Gwanghwamun & Seodaemun is veteran chicken gomtang and seasonal seafood in Seochon.

Most are a subway ride and a ten-minute walk apart, so two or three fit in a day. Narrow down with the neighbourhood buttons below, or save the places you like and put them in order to build a route — the Saved page also has ready-made Seoul routes.
