Jungang Haejang YeouidoA Step Above Cheongeoram, Premium Beef Tripe Hot Pot
This is a beef tripe hot pot spot. The hangover soup is quite good too.

A step above Cheongeoram
If Cheongeoram in Mangwon-dong is the clean, vegetable-broth version that keeps value front and center, Jungang Haejang is the premium side — the tripe itself and the overall flavor are a level up. Same dish category, different register entirely.

The price gap is real, though
The beef tripe hot pot costs noticeably more than at Cheongeoram. Being premium, the price climbs to match. If tripe quality matters more to you than value, this is the right call.
What it looks like — the jeongol ingredients
Inside the black jeongol pot, the ingredients are laid out by section. On the left is crown daisy, in the middle a bundle of white enoki and pieces of carrot, and below them oyster and king oyster mushrooms. On the right, seasoned beef gopchang is heaped up, with a red dadaegi seasoning placed separately on top. Because it is the raw look before boiling, you can see at a glance what goes in.
Menu words
- Gopchang-jeongol is a hot pot of beef small intestine, vegetables and mushrooms simmered in broth
- Dadaegi is a red seasoning made from chili and other ingredients, stirred into the broth to adjust the heat
- Gopchang is the small intestine of beef. If it's your first time, the chewy texture may feel unfamiliar
From the Samseong-dong original to Yeouido
Jungang Haejang seems to have opened branches in a few places lately. I first fell for it at the Samseong-dong original, so having a branch this close to Yeouido now is a welcome surprise.
What the pot looks like
The so-gopchang jeongol (beef-intestine hot pot) is built at the table: beef gopchang topped with vegetables and mushrooms — shiitake, enoki, crown daisy and carrot, as in the photo above — plus a seasoning paste, then boiled until it bubbles. It is packed with fat-rich gopchang. The Yeouido menu lists the medium (中) size at ₩67,000 (as of Sep 2026), so choose the size by head count. If gopchang is new to you, the ₩14,000 hanwoo blood-curd haejangguk (hangover soup) is an easier first bowl.
Main branch and Yeouido branch
- Samseong-dong main branch — 17 Yeongdong-daero 86-gil, Gangnam-gu (Yukin Building). This is where I first tasted it
- Yeouido branch — 70 Yeouidaero, 2nd floor of One Sentinel, about a 5-minute walk from Yeouido Station. The basement lot gives free parking (1 hour on weekdays, 2 hours on weekends)
- The Yeouido branch opens 10:30 AM–11 PM on weekdays and from 8 AM on Saturdays and Sundays (Saturday until 10 PM, Sunday until 9 PM), so it also works for a morning hangover meal (as of Sep 2026)
For foreign visitors
- Gopchang-jeongol is a hot pot of beef small intestine (tripe) simmered with vegetables. It comes with a spicy seasoning, but it's not overwhelmingly hot
- Haejangguk is a rich soup, made from bones or offal, served with rice — the classic hangover-soup format
- The smell and texture of tripe can take getting used to — if it's your first time, starting with the hangover soup is a safer bet
Who this is for
- ✅ Anyone who wants gopchang-jeongol with quality over value as the priority
- ✅ Anyone who's had Cheongeoram and is curious about a step-up version
- ✅ Anyone needing a hangover-soup meal in Yeouido
- ⚠️ If value matters more, Cheongeoram in Mangwon-dong may suit you better
- ⚠️ The smell and texture of tripe can be off-putting for some
