Maknae Hoejipa ₩14,000 sashimi set served only at weekday lunch, Namdaemun Market
This place is excellent value. They run a sashimi set only at weekday lunch — ₩14,000 a person gets you a whole spread of side dishes on top of the sashimi, almost like a full rice-and-banchan meal built around raw fish.

A full sashimi spread
Flounder sashimi, spicy seasoned squid, a braised fish dish, and a spicy fish stew all come out together, filling the table. The braised whole fish and the stew simmered down to the bone are especially hearty.
There's a wait. That said, tables turn over faster than you'd expect, so it doesn't drag on too long.
If you're in the mood for a light, casual plate of sashimi, this place will more than satisfy.
What it looks like
On an oval plate, white-fleshed and red-fleshed raw fish lie side by side on shredded radish, with a spicy stir-fried squid dish on one side. To the right, a braise of radish and mackerel, braised potatoes, and a red spicy fish soup with bones showing each come in stainless-steel bowls. The wrapping greens are red-leaf lettuce in a basket, and small dishes of chili-vinegar sauce, soy sauce, seasoned ssamjang, cucumber, chili and garlic stand on the table. The set puts raw fish and cooked side dishes on the same table.

Finding it inside Namdaemun Market
The restaurant is on the 2nd floor of Namdaemun Market, about a 3-minute walk from Hoehyeon Station (Line 4). It works best as a stop in the middle of a market visit, timed for lunch before 2 PM. Within the same market, Buwon Myeonok and, in the hairtail-stew alley, Honam Sikdang make good follow-ups on another day.

Worth knowing
- On the 2nd floor of Namdaemun Market, the core draw here is the sashimi set (₩14,000/person), served only at weekday lunch.
- The set requires a minimum of 2 people, and stops selling after 2:00 PM. It's not offered at all on weekends.
- With sashimi, braised fish, and a stew all in one meal, it's an easy, approachable way to try raw fish even if it's your first time.
- Location — 2 Namdaemunsijang 2-ga-gil, Jung-gu, Seoul, 2F, about a 3-minute walk from Hoehyeon Station (Line 4) — easy to combine with a stroll through Namdaemun Market.
- It's all the same Myeongdong area, so pairing this with Myeongdong Gyoja, the kalguksu place near Exit 8, works well too.
