Seochon Gyedanjipa seasonal-seafood spot worth the trip on the coldest days
## Worth the distance

It's not close to where I live, so I don't get here often. But on the coldest, harshest days, this place suddenly comes to mind — enough to make me forget the distance.
This is a place seafood lovers tend to already know about. It's good for seasonal seafood, and while the price runs a bit higher, you get unique seasonal catches you won't find at an ordinary seafood spot.
Whatever's in season that day
We ordered the whelk (cham-sora), served with carrot and onion — great chewy texture.
Crab was also in season this visit, so a big steamed crab came out alongside it — the shell packed with meat and roe.

There's a seafood ramyeon that everyone who comes here seems to order without fail, but I was too full to try it this time. Definitely on the list for next visit.
What it looks like — the whelks
A large oval plate holds boiled whelks piled in their shells on a bed of lettuce. The shells are rough and dark; some of the meat has slid out and some is still inside. On a side plate lie thick-cut carrot and onion, and the dipping sauces come in small dishes: a red chili sauce, a brown sauce, and soy sauce with a lump of wasabi.
For foreign visitors

- The menu shifts with whatever comes in that day. If crab, whelk, or another seasonal item is available, it's worth asking about and ordering.
- The seafood ramyeon is considered close to a must-order among visitors.
- No reservations — it's walk-in only. Turnover is decent, but expect to wait.
- About a 3-minute walk from Gyeongbokgung Station (Line 3).
