Far NienteA Western Restaurant in Sinsa-dong, Strong on Cream Gnocchi Gratin and Dessert
It's a Western restaurant in Sinsa-dong. I went back after a few years, and it tasted the way I remembered.

They do dessert well
They do dessert well. This time I ordered the churros and the tiramisu.
The churros come rolled in cinnamon sugar, fried crisp, with a scoop of pistachio-topped ice cream alongside. The tiramisu is under a thick layer of cocoa powder with lightly torched banana on top. Both plate up nicely for a photo.

The tiramisu
On a round slate plate sits a dessert heavily dusted with cocoa, topped with two halves of a split banana. The cut faces of the banana are browned and glossy. Cocoa is scattered over the rim of the plate too, with a trace of powdered sugar showing. Two water glasses stand in the background.
The cream gnocchi gratin still holds up
What I wanted to eat again here was the cream gnocchi gratin — potato-dough gnocchi under a cream sauce, baked in the oven, golden on top and soft underneath. The cream isn't heavy, so you finish the dish.
The pastas come out solidly too. As you'd expect from a place built around Western food, the fundamentals are there.
The private room
Order above a set amount and you can eat in a private room. It's good for when you want a meal with just your own group, undisturbed. Check the threshold amount and how to book directly with the restaurant.
Worth knowing as a traveller
- This is not a Korean restaurant — it's a Western (Italian-leaning) one. Gnocchi gratin, pasta and dessert are the core, so it works on a day when Korean food feels like too much.
- Nothing on the menu is spicy.
- It's in Sinsa-dong (near Garosu-gil and Apgujeong), so it slots into a shopping-and-cafe day.
- Booking is the safer bet in the evening. The private room has a minimum-spend condition, so ask when you reserve.
- I didn't check whether the menu has English. The dish names (gnocchi, tiramisu) generally get through.
The right occasion for this
- ✅ You want a light Western meal plus dessert on a Sinsa-dong day
- ✅ You like soft Western dishes — cream sauce, gratin
- ✅ You want a quiet room with just your own group (check the spend condition)
- ⚠️ You want strong spice or bold seasoning
- ⚠️ You want one signature dish and a quick exit — this is more of a sit-and-linger meal
Before you go
- Getting there — Sinsa-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul. Check the branch and the sign on the map before you go.
- Booking — recommended for evenings and weekends. The private room has a minimum-spend condition, so ask ahead.
- Hours · prices · closing day — weekdays noon-1am, Friday to 2am, Saturday 11:30am-2am, no regular closing day. Cream gnocchi gratin runs around 25,000 KRW (as of Aug 2026).
- If Korean food sounds better instead — Daewoo Budae-jjigae is another option in the same Gangnam area.
