Jangmo SiktakAbalone Stone-Pot Rice, Soy-Marinated Crab and Stew on One Table, Great Value in Jeju City

In Ido-dong, Jeju City, Jangmo Siktak serves abalone stone-pot rice, a stew and soy-marinated crab on one table, and the value is excellent. It was my first meal on this trip to Jeju.

Why it was my first meal in Jeju

Measured from Jeju Airport, it is inside the city but a little to the south-east. It is good value, so expect a possible wait at mealtimes. I arrived at an in-between hour and was lucky enough to be seated straight away.

The stone-pot rice is the one I recommend

The full table at Jangmo Siktak — abalone stone-pot rice, a clear soup, a red stew, soy-marinated crab, marinated abalone, stir-fried pork, salad and side dishes on a wooden table

I would dare to recommend the abalone stone-pot rice. There is more abalone than I expected, and the innards — called geu-u — are well mixed into the rice. If you scorch the leftover rice into nurungji in the pot, the flavour of the innards comes through more strongly than I expected.

What arrives on the table

The soy-marinated crab also comes in a bigger portion than I expected, and the crab is hwang-ge (황게). You can choose the stew to suit your taste. Marinated abalone, stir-fried pork, a salad and side dishes arrive with it. For one meal in Jeju, the value of this spread is very good.

The basic side dishes are ordinary, but this is a place where you taste several main-course dishes at one table. The Jangmo set is 17,000 won, and there are other dishes at around 10,000 won per person (as of Oct 2026).

What it looks like

White plates and bowls are laid out neatly on a wooden table. In the center, a white plate is full of crab in soy sauce, topped with a lemon slice and chili. On the rectangular plate above, four abalone in their shells sit in a soy seasoning, topped with green and red chili. At the upper left is seasoned grilled meat with onion, and around it in small dishes are a cabbage salad with a white dressing, seasoned bean sprouts, stir-fried anchovies, stir-fried fish cake and kimchi.

Menu words

  • Sotbap is rice cooked together with its ingredients in a pot
