Iho Tewoo BeachCanola Flowers and a Coffee, a Short Stop Near the Airport
Just walking out to see the red horse lighthouse at the end of the breakwater makes for a short stroll on its own.

Iho Tewoo's landmark: the red horse lighthouse
The symbol of Iho Tewoo Beach is the Jeju-pony-shaped red lighthouse at the end of the breakwater. A white one stands opposite it as a pair. Walking out along the breakwater to the lighthouse and back is a short stroll in itself.
What it looks like
A horse-shaped red lighthouse stands at the end of the breakwater, with tetrapods piled in layers in front of it. Its body is built like an angular horse, with a small lantern tower on top of the head. You can see the stairs and railing leading up to it, and a deep-blue sea spreads out beside the breakwater. In the distance are buildings lined along the coast. The sky has almost no clouds.
The canola field and a coffee
In canola season, I'd suggest a short stop at Iho Tewoo Beach, since it's close to the airport. It's especially good when you have an awkward gap right after landing, or before a flight out.
There's a canola field set up a little to the right of the beach. It isn't large. But walking through the yellow flowers with the sea beside you, then sitting down with a coffee — for that, it's just the right size.

When to go
- If canola is the point, late March to April. Bloom timing shifts a little each year.
- The beach itself peaks in summer, but the "short stop" this post is about suits spring.
- The airport is close, so it's good for filling time around a flight.
For foreign visitors
- No admission. It's a public beach, open all hours.
- 10–15 minutes by car from Jeju International Airport. Handy right before picking up or dropping off a rental car.
- The canola field is small, so treat it as a light rest stop rather than a big flower field.
- The breakwater is windy and the surface uneven. Wear comfortable shoes if you're walking to the lighthouse.
