ShwieogatA Turkish-Styled Cafe on the Road to Seongsan, and a Jar of Sütlaç
## Found while reading up on kaymak

I found this place while reading around about kaymak, back when it was starting to get popular in Korea. It turns up on the road from Seogwipo through Pyoseon, just as you're nearing Seongsan.
A space and garden done up Turkish-style
The interior feels deliberately done in a Turkish style — a row of brass coffee pots along the windowsill, colourful fish paintings on the wall. Outside there's a well-kept garden. Good atmosphere for photos.
What it looks like by the window
Brass pots stand in a row on the windowsill, with three colorful paintings of fish leaning below them. A potted plant stands to one side, and outside the window you can see a deck with a wooden railing, a lawn garden and the roofs of houses in the distance. The sky was overcast that day.
What are sütlaç and kaymak?
- Sütlaç is a Turkish pudding made by cooking rice in milk
- Kaymak is a thick cream made by skimming the fat from milk, and in Türkiye it is eaten with bread or honey
I always end up ordering the sütlaç
When I get here, I end up ordering the sütlaç (a Turkish milk pudding).

It's soft, with a gentle sweetness. The little glass jar it comes in is cute enough that you want to keep it. The garden is out the window.
Notes for travellers
- Sütlaç is a Turkish milk pudding. Not spicy; it's dairy.
- Worth a stop if you're interested in Turkish desserts like kaymak (thick cream).
- The location works well as a stop on the way to a Seongsan itinerary (Seongsan Ilchulbong, Seopjikoji, Gwangchigi Beach).
- It pairs well with a climb up Seongsan Ilchulbong — come down and close the loop here with coffee and dessert.
- The garden and window seats are good for photos.
- ✅ Good for anyone who wants coffee and dessert on the way to Seongsan, is curious about Turkish desserts, or wants photos in the interior or garden.
- ⚠️ Less good if you're expecting Korean-style cafe desserts, or can't have dairy — sütlaç is a milk pudding.
