A low sign along the path read, "Loving you is making the camellia bloom" — one line, and I slowed right down.

Big enough to need half a day

What caught me off guard was the size. It's bigger than you'd expect, so walking the greenhouses and the outdoor gardens end to end takes a while. Take it slowly and properly and it's half a day.

A low sign along a garden path — "Loving you is making the camellia bloom" — with an azalea hedge behind it

Low wooden signs with short, poem-like lines stand along the paths. You don't come here to do anything in particular — it's a place where walking and looking at the flowers clears your head.

What it looks like — the greenhouse

Hydrangeas are in full bloom inside a greenhouse covered with glass and shade screens. Pink, pale purple, deep pink and white hydrangeas cluster in layers, with ferns and broad-leaved plants growing thick among them. Strings of bulb lights hang in several lines from the ceiling, and visitors can be seen walking between the steel pillars. Flowers and leaves spill out to the walkway, so the whole greenhouse feels filled with green and the colors of the flowers.

The headline flower changes by season

The name is camellia. Winter into spring, when the camellias bloom, is the garden's original face.

But which flower it leads with shifts through the year. By feel, the main season is summer, when the hydrangeas are out. One greenhouse fills up with pink, purple and white hydrangea.

This large garden in Seogwipo, on Jeju's west side, is one of the places most people stop at once they leave Jeju City — O'sulloc, Camellia Hill, Sanbangsan.

For visitors

  • It's a private garden known for camellias. Greenhouses, outdoor gardens and walking paths, with an admission fee.
  • The headline flower is different each season. Camellia in winter–spring, hydrangea in summer. The summer hydrangea window is the busiest.
  • It's bigger than you'd think. Give yourself plenty of time to see it all, and wear comfortable shoes.
  • Most of it is outdoors, so weather matters. The greenhouses are still worth it in the rain.
  • It's on Jeju's west side (Andeok). A rental car makes it easy, and O'sulloc Tea Museum is close.

Who it's for

  • ✅ Anyone fitting a flower-and-garden stop into a west-Jeju day (with O'sulloc and Sanbangsan)
  • ✅ Anyone going for the summer hydrangea or the winter–spring camellia
  • ✅ Anyone who likes to walk slowly and rest
  • ✅ Anyone after a garden with plenty to photograph
  • ⚠️ Anyone planning a quick look — it's large, and seeing it properly takes time
  • ⚠️ Anyone coming for the flowers in the off-season — what's in bloom drops off sharply
  • ⚠️ Anyone moving by public transport only — it's on the west side and awkward without a car

Before you go

  • Check the season — knowing which flower is leading now saves disappointment. Camellia = winter–spring, hydrangea = summer.
  • Time — walking the whole garden takes a while; budget half a day.
  • Route — Jeju's west side. Pair it with O'sulloc Tea Museum, Sanbangsan and the Andeok area for a day.
  • Admission and hours — it's paid and can vary by season, so check the official information before you go.
  • Eat — if you're heading toward Moseulpo in Daejeong-eup, Jeju Halmang Bapsang Moseulpo is a good spot for a full Korean spread.
Written after walking the whole garden myself. The flower in season, the admission and the opening hours all change with the season, so it's worth a check before you go. Fees and hours are (as of Sep 2026).
