The Best of Yeouido — My Picks From What I've Reviewed
Seoul · Yeouido
Yeouido mixes office-lunch veterans with a Han River-view cafe. It's an office district built around the National Assembly and the securities firms nearby, so it's especially busy on weekday lunches, and the mood shifts toward the Han River Park side in the evening. Here's a pick from what I've reviewed, ordered around the National Assembly and IFC side.
For lunch, stick to the veteran spots office workers line up for — gomtang at Hadongkwan, kongguksu at Jinjujip, or hoedeopbap at Gwonsusan. For dinner, there's steak-truffle jjajangmyeon at Mutan or mandu-guk at Jinjin Mandu — both work well split between two people. To close out the day, Gangbyeon Seojae, a cafe inside the National Assembly grounds, is a good spot for coffee with a Han River view.
Lunch at the veteran spots is mostly in the 10,000-KRW range, so it's easy on the budget. Since Gangbyeon Seojae sits inside the National Assembly grounds, check its hours before you go — it closes at 7 PM and is shut on Sundays.

Clear gomtang, two flavors once you add the kkakdugi brine.

One of Seoul's three famous kongguksu spots — you season it yourself.

A lunchtime hoedeopbap with a fried fish cutlet on the side.
4
Jinjin Mandu-guk
Spicy-looking mandu-guk that's milder than it looks.

Steak-truffle jjajangmyeon — one bowl is plenty for two.
6

A Han River-view bakery cafe inside the National Assembly grounds, open to the public.
