Privacy Policy
Effective 17 August 2026
Korea Trips ("the site") takes your privacy seriously. This page explains what is collected and why.
1. What is collected
The site has no accounts and no sign-in. No names, phone numbers, or other directly identifying information are collected.
The following may be recorded automatically:
- IP address, browser type, device type, time of access
- Pages viewed and referring source
If you email via the contact page, your address and message are used only to reply, and are deleted afterwards.
2. Emoji reactions
Tapping an emoji at the bottom of a guide stores the following:
| Stored | What it is |
|---|---|
| Visitor ID | A random value (UUID) generated in your browser. It is not linked to your name, email, or IP, and cannot identify you. |
| Guide address | Which guide you reacted to |
| Emoji type | Which reaction you tapped |
| Timestamp | Used to prevent duplicate and automated voting |
- This exists only to stop the same browser counting the same reaction twice.
- The visitor ID is stored in your browser's
localStorage. Clearing your site data deletes it, and a fresh random value is generated next time. - Reaction records are stored with Supabase Inc., whose servers may be located outside Korea.
- If you never tap a reaction, none of this is stored.
3. Why it's collected
- Understanding which guides are useful, so more of them get written
- Serving and measuring advertising
- De-duplicating emoji reactions
- Replying to your emails
4. Cookies and browser storage
The site may use cookies for analytics and advertising, and uses localStorage for the reaction feature.
You can block or delete cookies and site data in your browser settings. Reading the guides works exactly the same either way — you would only lose the highlight showing which reactions you had already tapped.
5. Advertising — Google AdSense
The site displays advertising through Google AdSense.
- Google and other third-party vendors use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites.
- You can opt out of personalised advertising at Google Ads Settings.
- To opt out of third-party vendor cookies more broadly, see aboutads.info.
For more detail, see how Google uses information from sites that use its services.
6. Analytics
The site may use Google Analytics to understand traffic. Data is aggregated and used for statistics only. You can opt out with the browser opt-out add-on.
7. Processors
| Processor | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Netlify, Inc. | Website hosting and access logs |
| Supabase, Inc. | Storing emoji reactions |
| Google LLC | Advertising and traffic analytics |
8. External links
Guides link to external sites. This policy does not apply to them; please check their own policies.
9. Your rights
You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your data. To have your reaction history deleted, send the visitor ID stored in your browser and it will be removed.
